Vacancy for a Media B2B Director / Trustee

We have an  exciting opportunity for a trustee with Media and Communications experience to develop a successful and synergistic relationship with local businesses, charities and media.

What are we looking for?

Experience in Media and B2B relationships is important, but more critical is that the applicant is hands on, with a get up and go attitude and is a team player, with the following:

  • Self-motivation and good organisational skills
  • Results orientation
  • Confidence and persuasion in public speaking and presenting
  • Excellent communication abilities.

What difference will you make?

The successful applicant will help grow and strengthen our charity, with strong relationships leading to regular sustainable support. They will also create the regular stream of funds needed to allow us to expand our level of respite services, making a huge difference to the lives of Buckinghamshire’s family carers of dementia sufferers, who work 24/7 looking after their loved ones with little respite or help.

Hours and location?

The role is flexible, part time and  is expected to require 3 to 7 hours per week, during office hours and the successful applicant will be home based. Meetings will be mainly held on Zoom with face to face meeting needed in the Amersham area 3 to 5 times a year.

To apply

Please send your CV as a separate letter by email to support@dementia-respite.org.uk by 2nd April 2024. Interviews will be held shortly after, with the chairperson, by Zoom if face to face is not practical.

Walk for Care and Respite

Our crowdfunding campaign, Dementia Respite 2024,  kicks off with a Walk for Dementia Carers on Sunday, 28th April, as we embark on a journey of compassion and solidarity.

We aim to raise £15,000 to pay for 600 hours of respite for Dementia Family Carers, bringing relief and peace of mind to many families.

Dementia Carers’ Respite (DCR) is a charity which funds respite care for family carers of dementia sufferers. Starting in Buckinghamshire we hope to go nationwide.

Date: Sunday, 28th April 2024

Time: 11am – 2pm (gather at 10.30am)

Distance: 5miles / 8 km

Register: in advance by clicking here

Starting Point: Chesham Clock Tower, Market Square, Chesham HP5 1ES.

Our symbolic walk will start from and return to the Chesham Clock Tower, a place that marks the passage of time, mirroring the challenges faced by dementia carers.

Together, we will stride towards hope, understanding, and support.

The circular route will lead us to ‘Owned’, the charity shop supporting The Hospice of St Francis, 23 Woodside Road, Amersham, HP6 6AA, where light refreshments will be available.

Dogs, children and people of all ages are welcome!

Sponsorship: We also encourage walkers to ask friends, family and workmates to sponsor them. For sponsorship forms click here.

To participate in the walk please donate a minimum of £10 pounds per person via Gofundme and include Walk 2024 in the comments.

100% of the funds raised, including sponsorship, will go directly to the Dementia Carers’ Respite Charity and there will be certificates for those who raise funds for us.

You can help us reach our target by donating as much as you can.

Together, let’s make a difference to Buckinghamshire families by giving the gift of time to those who give so much of theirs.

Wycombe Sound Interview with Mimi Harker

What a fantastic week for Dementia Carers’ Respite! We had an interview on Wycombe Sound Radio Christmas Show, where a charity spokesperson, Jules Sainter, was interviewed by the amazing councillor and passionate advocate of community and charity issues, Mimi Harker (OBE). The interview talks about how the charity supports family  carers of dementia patients by funding a few hours of respite a week, where their loved one is cared for by a professionally trained dementia carer. You can listen to it in full here, or to volunteer, donate or receive respite care yourself, contact support@dementia-respite.org.uk.

Dementia Carers Respite Interview on Bucks Radio

We are delighted with the fantastic coverage given to Dementia Carers Respite charity last Friday afternoon. Throughout the news, the radio station featured exerts from an interview given by spokesperson and volunteer, Jules Sainter, about the pernicious effects of dementia on both individual sufferers and on their families, and the charity’s mission to give the family carers a few hours respite every week. You can hear the interview here in full.
