Walk for Care and Respite

Our crowdfunding campaign, Dementia Respite 2024,  kicks off with a Walk for Dementia Carers on Sunday, 28th April, as we embark on a journey of compassion and solidarity.

We aim to raise £15,000 to pay for 600 hours of respite for Dementia Family Carers, bringing relief and peace of mind to many families.

Dementia Carers’ Respite (DCR) is a charity which funds respite care for family carers of dementia sufferers. Starting in Buckinghamshire we hope to go nationwide.

Date: Sunday, 28th April 2024

Time: 11am – 2pm (gather at 10.30am)

Distance: 5miles / 8 km

Register: in advance by clicking here

Starting Point: Chesham Clock Tower, Market Square, Chesham HP5 1ES.

Our symbolic walk will start from and return to the Chesham Clock Tower, a place that marks the passage of time, mirroring the challenges faced by dementia carers.

Together, we will stride towards hope, understanding, and support.

The circular route will lead us to ‘Owned’, the charity shop supporting The Hospice of St Francis, 23 Woodside Road, Amersham, HP6 6AA, where light refreshments will be available.

Dogs, children and people of all ages are welcome!

Sponsorship: We also encourage walkers to ask friends, family and workmates to sponsor them. For sponsorship forms click here.

To participate in the walk please donate a minimum of £10 pounds per person via Gofundme and include Walk 2024 in the comments.

100% of the funds raised, including sponsorship, will go directly to the Dementia Carers’ Respite Charity and there will be certificates for those who raise funds for us.

You can help us reach our target by donating as much as you can.

Together, let’s make a difference to Buckinghamshire families by giving the gift of time to those who give so much of theirs.
